Obituary for Rosina Cafone (Perrone)
Loving Mother, Grandmother, & Great-Grandmother.
Rosina Cafone, 96, of Nutley passed peacefully into eternal life at her home surrounded by her children and loved ones on August 28, 2019. Born in Acri, Cosenza, Italy, her parents were Giuseppe “Joe” Perrone and Dominica Gencarelli. She came to the United States in 1939 and has been a proud Nutley resident and parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, Nutley, for the past 80 years. Rosina was a member of the St. Mary’s Rosary Society and an active member of Nutley’s Tuesday and Friday Clubs.
Rosina and her husband, James, owned and operated Jimmy’s Market in Nutley for many years. Known for her homemade Italian sausage, she would sometimes brag about how her customers would have it shipped throughout the United States and Europe. In addition to serving her customers, Rosina enjoyed nothing more than cooking large, Italian meals for her family.
The loving mother of seven children: James “Natty” and his wife, Betty, Michael, John and his wife, Linda, Rosalie Ciampi and her husband, Greg, Paul and his wife, Denise, Thomas and his wife, Gina; daughter-in-law Lynda. Rosina’s legacy includes her 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Devoted sister to Georgina Crocco and sister-in-law to Jean Meggiolaro, Angela Cofone, and Maria Chimento. She also loved her many nieces and nephews. Rosina is predeceased by her husband, James, her son, Joseph, and her brother, Pasquale Barcaiulo.
The funeral will be Saturday, August 31, 2019 from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley at 8:30 a.m.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley at 9:30 a.m.
The interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.
Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 3-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund, 17 Msgr. Owens Pl., Nutley, NJ 07110 would be appreciated.
