Obituary for Charles Fanelli

Owner of East Nutley Garage

Charles Fanelli, of Nutley passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Born in Newark, the son of Angelo and Lena (Ferrara) Fanelli, he lived in Belleville prior to moving to Nutley 47 years ago.
Charlie was the owner of East Nutley Garage for 53 years before retiring 14 years ago. He also towed for the Nutley Police Department. He was also a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Nutley Old Guard and the Nutley Elks BPOE #1290.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean (Shaul) Fanelli; his children, Jeannie Borgo and her husband, Michael, Debra Thomas and her husband, Bob, Charles and his wife, Lola, Albert and his wife, Lynn, Frank and his wife, Denise and Richard and his wife, Stephanie; his sister, Joan Craig and her husband, Walter; and his14 grandchildren, Courtney Soltis and her husband, James, Brittney & Ryan Borgo, William Savage, Charles, Chris, Zack, Daniel, Alex, Alyssa, Frank, Gabriela, Lyla and Livi Fanelli. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by a sister, Rose McMeel and a brother, Frank.

The funeral will be Wednesday, November 6, 2019 from the S.W. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 267 Centre St., Nutley at 8:30 a.m.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Nutley at 9:30 a.m.

The interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in No. Arlington.

Visitors will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.

Nutley Old Guard Service will begin at 4:30 p.m.
